Task of CARE Teams
Occasionally unique community needs are presented to the church in God’s providence (like weather catastrophes) to which the elders and deacons feel directed by God to engage the church in response. These will be assigned to the appropriate CARE team. In addition members of the congregation will be strongly encouraged to look for those needs among their neighbors (single parent, a family with an autistic child, etc.) and in their communities (graffiti on walls, after school child care, etc.) that they can serve. In turn, they should seek the support and help of the appropriate CARE team when the need is beyond their individual ability to care for. Additionally, from time to time a team may be led to proactively engage in a need of which they become aware. If these tasks surpass the ability of the team, the congregation is encouraged to rally to this team and labor with them to the completion of the task, need or challenge.
Philosophy of CARE Teams
Our endeavor will be to engage in holistic outreach or evangelism in both word and deed. As the team takes opportunities to serve those around them they will do so conscious of the fact that in doing this work they are indeed testifying to the world of the one who wants to reconcile all things unto Himself. It is important that the team and its individual members understand that testifying which replicates that of our Savior occurs both in deed as they meet physical needs, and in word through direct evangelistic witness meeting spiritual needs and NOT one without the other.
Purpose of CARE Teams
The CARE Teams are God’s way of working through Fellowship of Grace, PCA to fulfill God’s command to His church to do good to believers and non-believers and help our members carry out God’s mandate to be both salt (via the deeds) and light (via the Word) where God has planted them.
